Biography

Christine Browne is a social scientist in the Combating Wildlife Trafficking Branch of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service International Affairs Program. Prior to joining the Service in 2015, Christy served as the Associate Director of Community-Based Conservation at the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. Christy holds a BA in Education, an MSc in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, and a PhD in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Her mixed-methods research has included studies of social tolerance of elephants on private lands in Kenya, motivations for bear part use in Laos, and motivations and inclinations to poach wolves in Wisconsin. She taught Human Dimensions courses at the University of Florida and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and project planning and evaluation at Miami University. Christy is currently affiliate faculty in the Department of Human Dimensions at Colorado State University.

I am interested in working collaboratively to advance the integration of sound social science into project planning and action.
