KoBoToolbox

KoBoToolbox is a free and open source cloud-based electronic data collection system based on Google’s Open Data Kit (ODK) that allows conservation practitioners to collect survey data on mobile devices, even without an internet connection. Using electronic survey forms and cloud-based data storage can save weeks of data entry and cleaning, and dramatically reduces the risk of losing data, which is more likely in the challenging environments in which conservation practitioners often work. Survey123

Survey123 is a mobile and web-based application also based on Google’s Open Data Kit (ODK) for online or offline data collection, mapping, and spatial analysis. It supports geographic information system (GIS) integration and allows users to build surveys using a user-friendly interface. Survey123 is a paid service by ESRI, although in-kind grants are available for non-profit organizations, rendering the tool free of cost to many conservation NGOs who use it. It also has a free version that allows basic functionality, such as creating surveys, collecting data on web/mobile devices, and performing basic data management tasks.

OpenFn

OpenFN is a data integration platform that provides secure, scalable infrastructure for integrating data and automating business processes - helping conservation practitioners spend less time processing and sharing data, and more time focusing on their core work. OpenFn can (1) automatically extract data from KoboToolbox or other data sources, (2) clean data, and (3) load and map data into other destination systems.
